Marina Núñez del Prado House Museum, PeruThe House Where Art and Andean Identity Converse in Silence Through Sculpture.By Estefanía Muriel for Ruta Pantera on 1/5/2026 5:20:20 AM |

The Marina Núñez del Prado House Museum is located in the San Isidro district of Lima and was the last residence of the Bolivian sculptor Marina Núñez del Prado, one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Latin American art. The artist, renowned for her sculptural work in stone and bronze, settled in Peru during the last stage of her life, where she continued creating and consolidating her artistic legacy. After her death in 1995, the house was converted into a museum at the behest of the artist and her husband, with the aim of preserving and promoting her work. The space retains both the original architecture of the house and a carefully curated exhibition that allows visitors to explore the aesthetic and thematic evolution of Núñez del Prado’s work, marked by the representation of the female body, motherhood, and Andean roots. |

What Makes the Marina Núñez House Museum Unique One of the museum’s most unique aspects is that it houses over 1,900 works, many of them displayed exactly as the artist left them in her studio. The house serves not only as an exhibition space but also as an intimate testament to Marina Núñez del Prado’s creative process, including sketches, tools, and personal belongings. Furthermore, the museum represents a symbolic meeting point between Bolivia and Peru, reflecting the Andean cultural dialogue that characterized the sculptor’s work. |

Highlights You Can’t Miss A visit to the museum can be complemented by a culinary experience in the San Isidro area, one of Lima’s districts with the most diverse culinary offerings. Just a few blocks away is La Gloria restaurant, a classic of contemporary Peruvian cuisine, where dishes like the beef medallion or Madrid-style tripe are priced at approximately US$25. Another nearby option is Isolina Taberna Peruana, known for its Creole cuisine, where a main course costs around US$15 to US$20. Regarding traditional festivals, if your visit coincides with dates such as Afro-Peruvian Culture Month in June or the national holidays in July, you can find complementary cultural and gastronomic activities in various parts of the city, enriching your experience. |

| Options for Further Discovery Within easy reach of the Museum House, you can visit important cultural spaces and green areas. The Museum of Contemporary Art of Lima (MAC), located in Barranco about 6 kilometers away, offers temporary and permanent exhibitions with an entrance fee of approximately US$5 to US$8. El Olivar Forest, a short walk from the museum, is a free historical park dating back to the colonial period and is ideal for a leisurely stroll. Additionally, the Huaca Huallamarca Museum, a pre-Hispanic archaeological site located in San Isidro, offers a glimpse into Lima’s ancient history for approximately US$3 to US$5. The Best Way to Get There The Marina Núñez del Prado House Museum is located about 7 kilometers from Lima’s Historic Center and approximately 15 kilometers from Jorge Chávez International Airport. The journey by taxi or ride-hailing app takes between 30 and 45 minutes, with an average cost of US$10 to US$15 from central areas. San Isidro offers a wide range of accommodations, from boutique hotels to international chains, with prices ranging from US$80 to US$180 per night. For getting around, taxis and ride-hailing apps are the most convenient options. The best time to visit Lima and the museum is between May and October, when the weather is cooler and more stable, with lower humidity and average temperatures between 16 and 22 degrees Celsius. |
||||
| Practical and Safety Tips It is recommended to check the museum’s opening hours beforehand, as they may vary depending on the season. Comfortable shoes are advisable, and you should allow at least an hour and a half for your visit to properly appreciate the works. San Isidro is considered a safe area, but it is always wise to take basic precautions, such as keeping an eye on your belongings and using authorized transportation, especially when traveling at night. |
