Granada, también conocida como la "Gran Sultana," es una de las ciudades coloniales más destacadas de Nicaragua, famosa por su abundancia de iglesias y fachadas religiosas. Fundada en el siglo XVI, su diseño urbano y arquitectura han resistido incendios, saqueos y terremotos. Entre sus iglesias más emblemáticas se encuentra la Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, construida sobre varias estructuras anteriores que datan del siglo XVI y remodelada a finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX. Hoy, su fachada neoclásica y cúpulas coloridas dominan la Plaza Central. Este rico carácter religioso y urbano ha convertido a Granada en un referente del patrimonio colonial en la región y un imán para viajeros interesados en historia, arquitectura y tradiciones religiosas populares.
Qué Hace Única a Granada Granada alberga iglesias con historias únicas: la Iglesia de La Merced, cuya fachada muestra rastros de ataques y reconstrucciones desde la época colonial; la Catedral aparece reflejada en una moneda de colección y desde sus torres se obtiene una de las vistas más fotografiadas de la ciudad.
