World of Coca-Cola Boosts Atlanta Tourism During the FIFA World Cup 2026

A Cultural Experience Connecting a Global Brand with Millions of Football Fans

Atlanta is preparing to welcome thousands of fans during the FIFA World Cup 2026, but the tournament experience will extend far beyond the matches played inside the stadium. In a city recognized as a major business, cultural, and tourism center in the United States, the World of Coca-Cola stands out as an attraction that connects history, innovation, and entertainment for international visitors arriving during the competition.

Located in downtown Atlanta, at the birthplace of Coca-Cola in 1886, the museum has become one of the city's leading tourist attractions. Since opening in 2007, the World of Coca-Cola has welcomed more than 15 million visitors, offering an interactive experience that explores the evolution of a beverage created more than a century ago into one of the most recognized brands in the world.

The arrival of the 2026 World Cup increases the importance of these types of experiences. Atlanta will be one of the 16 host cities of the tournament and will stage matches at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a modern sports venue with a capacity of approximately 71,000 spectators. The city expects a significant influx of international travelers who will combine attending matches with cultural visits, dining, shopping, and entertainment activities.

The tournament will be the largest FIFA World Cup in history. The 2026 edition will feature 48 national teams, 104 matches, and three host countries: the United States, Canada, and Mexico. With games distributed across 16 cities, the competition represents an unprecedented tourism and economic opportunity for North America, generating activity for hotels, restaurants, transportation services, retailers, and local attractions.

Within this environment, the World of Coca-Cola represents a growing trend in sports tourism: travelers are no longer interested only in watching a competition, but in experiencing the destination itself. Fans arriving for a match increasingly seek opportunities to explore local history, visit iconic landmarks, and create memories that extend beyond the sporting event.

The museum offers a journey through more than 135 years of Coca-Cola history, featuring exhibits dedicated to the company's origins, historic advertising campaigns, collectible items, and the international expansion of the brand. One of its most popular attractions allows visitors to sample beverages from different regions of the world, demonstrating how local preferences influence the products consumed by millions of people worldwide.

The global reach of Coca-Cola helps explain the museum's appeal among international travelers. Today, the company has a presence in more than 200 countries and territories, making it one of the most recognized American brands worldwide. For many foreign visitors, exploring the birthplace of Coca-Cola provides a direct connection to an important part of American business and popular culture.

The relationship between Coca-Cola and international football also strengthens its presence during the World Cup. The company has maintained a historic partnership with FIFA since 1976 and has participated as an official sponsor of multiple World Cup editions. For decades, football has served as one of the company's most important platforms for connecting with fans across different cultures and generations.

Atlanta also has strategic advantages that support the growth of sports tourism. The city is home to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, one of the world's busiest passenger airports, and serves as a major connection point between the United States, Latin America, and international markets.

The impact of the World Cup will extend beyond stadium attendance. Research on major sporting events shows that visitors typically increase their spending on museums, restaurants, cultural attractions, transportation, and local businesses during their stay. For host cities, the challenge is transforming a short sporting visit into a broader tourism experience.

The World of Coca-Cola demonstrates how a historic brand can become part of the modern tourism ecosystem. Its importance during the FIFA World Cup 2026 is not only about telling the story of a beverage, but also about showing how a local creation from Atlanta became a global phenomenon capable of connecting people, cultures, and generations.

As the tournament brings millions of fans together through football, destinations such as the World of Coca-Cola will help define the overall visitor experience. For Atlanta, the World Cup represents an opportunity to showcase its identity, history, and attractions to a global audience while reinforcing its position as an international tourism destination.
