Eclipse solar anular ilumina la Tierra con un “Anillo de Fuego”

El 17 de febrero de 2026, un eclipse solar anular creó un impresionante anillo de luz alrededor del Sol.

El 17 de febrero de 2026 tuvo lugar el primer gran evento astronómico del año: un eclipse solar anular, conocido popularmente como “Anillo de Fuego”, porque la Luna, al pasar entre la Tierra y el Sol, no cubrió por completo el disco solar. Esto se debió a que la Luna estaba cerca de su punto más alejado de la Tierra, haciéndola parecer más pequeña en el cielo y dejando visible un anillo de luz solar alrededor de sus bordes.

El fenómeno fue totalmente visible en la Antártida, donde científicos de bases como Concordia y Mirny observaron el impresionante anillo de fuego durante varios minutos, ofreciendo un espectáculo único tanto para investigadores como para observadores del cielo.

En el sur de Sudamérica, especialmente en Chile y Argentina, el eclipse se observó como un parcial, con la Luna cubriendo parte del disco solar. Los residentes y astrónomos de estas regiones reportaron vistas impresionantes bajo cielos mayormente despejados.

Otras zonas del hemisferio sur, incluyendo partes del sur de África y regiones del océano Índico, también vivieron un eclipse parcial, donde la Luna ocultó una fracción del Sol.

La fase de anularidad, cuando aparece el “anillo de fuego”, duró aproximadamente 2 minutos en las áreas con mejor alineación, haciendo de este evento tanto un fenómeno visual espectacular como una oportunidad científica valiosa.

Este eclipse forma parte de la serie Saros 121, que incluye muchos eclipses relacionados a lo largo de los siglos, y brinda a los astrónomos la oportunidad de estudiar la interacción de la radiación solar con la atmósfera terrestre en condiciones únicas.

Los astrónomos destacan que los eclipses no solo son fenómenos naturales impresionantes, sino también herramientas de investigación. Las observaciones durante un eclipse ayudan a comprender la mecánica celeste y permiten estudiar la corona solar, la atmósfera más externa del Sol, bajo condiciones raras de visibilidad.
