Trump busca reenfocar la estrategia de EE. UU. en el hemisferio occidental en la Cumbre de las Américas

Washington impulsa una nueva agenda diplomática en América Latina centrada en seguridad, migración y cooperación regional.

La administración de Donald Trump está dirigiendo nuevamente su atención hacia América Latina y el Caribe a medida que se intensifican las conversaciones en torno a la Summit of the Americas. Funcionarios estadounidenses señalan que esta iniciativa refleja un esfuerzo por reforzar la presencia diplomática y política de Washington en la región.

La cumbre reúne a jefes de Estado y altos funcionarios de todo el continente y tradicionalmente ha servido como un espacio para debatir desafíos comunes en las Américas. Entre los temas que podrían dominar la agenda se encuentran la migración regional, la cooperación económica, la seguridad fronteriza y la lucha contra el crimen transnacional.

Analistas consideran que este renovado interés por la región también responde a un contexto geopolítico cambiante. En los últimos años, varios países latinoamericanos han ampliado sus relaciones comerciales y diplomáticas con potencias globales fuera del continente, lo que ha llevado a Washington a buscar una participación más activa en el hemisferio.

Observadores diplomáticos señalan que el encuentro podría abrir espacios para nuevos acuerdos y para fortalecer el diálogo político entre los países de la región. Aunque no se esperan transformaciones inmediatas, la cumbre refleja el interés de Estados Unidos por reafirmar su papel en los asuntos del continente.
