Costa Rica, único país de Centroamérica en la lista de los mejores destinos para visitar en 2026

La Península de Osa destaca en el ranking global de The New York Times por su biodiversidad y experiencias auténticas.

Costa Rica fue reconocido como el único país de Centroamérica incluido en la prestigiosa lista “52 Places to Go in 2026” elaborada por el diario estadounidense The New York Times. La inclusión se dio especialmente por la Península de Osa, ubicada en el Pacífico sur del país, que destaca por su naturaleza exuberante y oportunidades de aventura ecoturística.

Según el ranking, la Península de Osa combina una biodiversidad extraordinaria con menor saturación turística que otras regiones más conocidas, lo que la convierte en un destino ideal para viajeros que buscan experiencias auténticas y contacto directo con la vida silvestre. En el área se pueden observar especies como perezosos, monos, tortugas marinas, delfines, tiburones y mantarrayas, tanto en tierra como bajo el mar.

El reconocimiento también subraya el crecimiento de la oferta turística en comunidades cercanas, con nuevas propuestas gastronómicas enfocadas en productos locales y proyectos hoteleros orientados a bienestar y turismo sostenible. Además, se menciona que la mejora en la conectividad aérea facilita el acceso internacional al país y a esta zona menos explorada.

La presencia de Costa Rica en el listado —junto a otros destinos latinoamericanos— refuerza su posicionamiento global como destino ecoturístico destacado, capaz de atraer a viajeros interesados en naturaleza, cultura y experiencias auténticas fuera de las rutas turísticas tradicionales.
