Venezolanos enfrentan desplazamiento masivo tras el fin de protecciones en EE. UU.

Al quedar sin estatus protegido, cientos de miles de venezolanos deben abandonar su vida en Estados Unidos

En Estados Unidos, más de 600 000 venezolanos que hasta ahora contaban con estatus de protección temporal (TPS) se enfrentan de repente a la pérdida de esa cobertura jurídica. Muchos están cerrando negocios, vendiendo viviendas y tomando vuelos para irse del país, no por elección, sino porque se ven obligados a abandonar las vidas que construyeron durante años. Personas como Carlos Rodríguez, quien huyó de Venezuela en 2018 y dedicó seis años a asentarse en Miami, ahora se enfrentan a una catástrofe personal. Embaló sus pertenencias, entregó a su perro, dejó su apartamento y abordó un vuelo con destino a España, dejando atrás su empleo, su proyecto de comprar una casa y una relación de dos años. Este desenlace ocurre en medio de un escenario de creciente tensión en Venezuela, marcado por el colapso económico, la represión política y la posibilidad emergente de un conflicto armado. Aunque el gobierno estadounidense alegó “mejoras” en la situación venezolana como motivo para retirar la protección, los críticos sostienen que las condiciones siguen siendo peligrosas. Las garantías legales que representaban un salvavidas se están desvaneciendo. Algunos venezolanos tienen peticiones de asilo o cambio de estatus pendientes, pero la incertidumbre es abrumadora. Otros optan por salir completamente de Estados Unidos. Abogados de inmigración advierten que la eliminación repentina del TPS podría equivaler al mayor acto de “ilegalización” de un grupo en la historia del país. Para muchos, las consecuencias son de vida o muerte. Enviar a los venezolanos de regreso significa mandarlos a un país con riesgo real de persecución, detención arbitraria e incluso tortura. Al mismo tiempo, las autoridades estadounidenses enfrentan crecientes interrogantes sobre cómo manejar este cambio abrupto sin agravar una crisis humanitaria.
