The Weight Of An Anniversary

Celebrating 250 years of any nation is an extraordinary act. Yet the numbers tell a different story. According to the Spring 2026 Harvard Youth Poll, trust among young Americans in the federal government has fallen to just 15% — the lowest level ever recorded in the survey's 26-year history. Even more revealing: 50% of respondents say that "people like them have no real say in what the government does," a sentiment that has grown 15 percentage points since 2017 and cuts across party lines equally.
